![]() I have only installed the new battery in today and started to use the new charger. When connecting the first charger which was said to be genuine, CoconutBattery states charging with 2.98 Watts but when connecting with the charger from Apple it states charging with 5.86 Watts then goes up to 6.08 Watts. Still having slow charging issues, so I purchased a charger directly from Apple. ![]() I decided to order a top battery, NewerTech which was the one I had before that I shorted. Took over a day to charge and would power down in 2-3 hours. I purchased a battery and charger which both was said to be genuine, however charging was very slow. Having left that battery in appeared to short my Magsafe charger. I purchased a new battery but was for another Mac model, was still was not working with out Magsafe charger. This shorted my battery showing X on the battery icon. Some key were not working so I decided to pull the battery connector while under load (while powered on). Long story short, changed my keyboard with a poor quality one. I had issues which lead to the final issue of slow charging. I noticed the post is a year old but this might help others. Many of them on that page repair Mac board, accept mail-in repairs, and offer a valid warranty. If you like to have it repaired for you, check my profile for a link to the nearest qualified board technician that can handle this kind of repair. If you find the culprits, you can proceed to replace them using used parts from donor boards (sometimes necessary, in order for them to be programmed) or new spare parts when possible. If you feel like addressing it yourselves, you have to find the board number, the schematics, and follow the circuit using a multimeter. Once done and the board is clean, the charging circuit can be assessed for damage and repaired. However, if the problem resulted from liquid damage and that liquid damage is not addressed properly, there is a high risk of further deterioration of the components and traces on the board.įor one, cleaning must be done using a professional ultrasonic and proper cleaning agents. It can be repaired by someone with the right tools, experience, and access to spare parts. Sometimes it is one single component, some other times it is a whole bunch of them. Day to day variation is going to drive you needlessly nuts. There is probably damage to the charging circuit. You have warranty, if the battery exhibits low capacity after being used for 10 months, it is bad battery and should be replaced under warranty. That seems bit on higher side for variation, but each my Apple notebook had significant variations on this value and it had no impact on battery life overall.īut this has been rehashed here like 1000x times. On my (Intel) MBP I have had about 5% variation between min and max in last ~6 months (as low as 95% and as high as 100%). These numbers vary a lot (especially early). Input values change all the time - especially early in battery life - and each battery is slightly different. Chips on batteries and computer firmware use complex formulas to make the best guess. There is no simple way to estimate battery capacity. You could even avoid getting railed needlessly -) It would be faster to give you answer and explanation. If you would search in Forums for every portable Mac (and PC for that matter) you will find this routine occurrence. This discussion kjeeps repeating again, and again.
